What we do
Our Funding Support helps nonprofits work together with Trusts, Foundations and other grant-givers to align the right ask with the right funder, at the right time. We start with an informal discussion to explore your needs and decide together how best we can help.

Expert review
A critical eye to ensure every submission is completely aligned to Funder’s priorities, requirements and values
Our priority is to provide the extra pair of hands that organisations sometimes need in order to succeed. We understand that sometimes this is just help in writing the applications. If this is the case, we can step in on an interim or short-term basis to get the job done.

Why Trusts, Foundations and other grant-givers matter
Strong relationships with Trusts and Foundations can offer nonprofits long-term sustainability. There are over 13,000 grant-making bodies in the UK alone, distributing over £20 billion in grants. Trusts and Foundations remain the largest sectoral source of grant funding, distributing around £8.2 billion. Recent research by LarkOwl (2025) found that funding through Trusts and Foundations offers the highest return on investment of all income sources. Grant-funding is essential to financial resilience and often provides for wider in-kind expertise to strengthen infrastructure and capacity.

The current state of the sector
Rising demand for services, inflation, staff pressures and public service cuts are squeezing the sector harder than ever. In a funding landscape where need is rising and competition is fierce, funders are overwhelmed and increasingly faced with rejecting strong proposals. Organisations need to closely tailor applications to each and every opportunity, ensure proposals meet funders’ criteria, and chase every possible lead. Working in the funding space can feel overwhelming and costly to nonprofits and funders.

What funders say
Applying to charitable trusts and foundations is highly competitive. Research by the Civil Society Commission shows that as many as 75% of applications are unsuccessful, with many major UK funders reporting success rates below 20% for general funding rounds. The National Lottery Community Fund, for example, funds less than one in five applications in many programmes.

We will always advise that you have a fit-for-purpose CRM that helps with Funder relationships and a website that Funders can find. However, we are also happy to work with you to get these in place.
