Some sector insights

Why a CRM matters for Nonprofits
In an increasingly competitive funding landscape, a CRM is now mission critical. It serves to consolidate vital website intelligence and funding activity. Many Nonprofits are investing heavily in a CRM system in order to maintain a competitive advantage over other nonprofits. CRMs are currently used by over 67% of UK charities, and those nonprofits who don’t invest in this technology, risk being placed lower-down in the priority list when viewed by potential funders. A strong, reliable and respected CRM system such as Salesforce enables Nonprofits to realistically produce the authentic, reliable and trustworthy information Funders are interested in.

The current state of the sector
The UK’s £95 billion nonprofit funding market is highly competitive, with over 170,000 charities competing for donations, grants, and awards. Yet fewer than 12% of nonprofits are digitally connected, still relying on Word, Excel, and scattered files. Salesforce CRM once professionally implemented, will remove the barriers between information as all necessary information can be stored and viewed via one screen (interface). This is where the CRM system is one your nonprofit’s three secret weapons in becoming fully funder-ready.

What the sector says
The nonprofit sector is undergoing dramatic technology changes, and CRMs are at the heart of it. Charity Digital Skills Reports show that most charities now place digital transformation at the centre of their strategy, with CRMs highlighted as the backbone of this change. These systems are no longer seen as optional databases but as essential infrastructure that empowers charities to streamline operations, centralise donor and funder intelligence, and deliver consistent supporter journeys across multiple channels.
Charity Digital reinforces this message, showing that CRMs provide the clarity, automation, and efficiency needed to reduce duplication, personalise communications, and free up valuable staff time. Civil Society’s annual CRM Survey echoes these findings. Sector leaders consistently report significant gains in fundraising effectiveness and impact reporting once CRMs are embedded.
Salesforce.org highlights that digital maturity for nonprofits continues to matter and that Nonprofits using online platforms to better understand their donors, have an edge. 64% of nonprofits in the “high digital maturity” category said they were able to forecast income accurately, compared to 0% in the “low digital maturity” category.

CRM consultancy frequently asked questions
Once you have registered and activated your Salesforce NPSP license, you are accessing all it’s related features for free. This is a service which Salesforce.org offers to non-profits and NGOs. Users of this license can install it themselves, but it is highly recommended that a certified Salesforce Consultant implements this for you. Implementation is chargeable.
Yes. By using the step-by-step guide and following Salesforce’s extensive User Guide (Trailhead), an experienced I.T literate user could implement the NPSP in its basic form. We as Salesforce consultants would however, always advise that you take up our offer of a free consultation in order to advise if self-installation would give you the best outcome.
The only additional cost which you may experience, are ones involved in adding extra functionality and automation to your crm system which fall outside of you standard NPSP application. Often, organisations want to integrate their email, Slack/Teams etc, or waant to couple their CRM with their website. This is all possible via the Salesforce CRM, but would incurr additional configuration costs.
Yes. If a one-person user wants to organise their entire data collection, Contacts, Accounts, Projects etc in one place, this Salesforce Application will do all this.
Once your set of requirements are fully understood and you have no ‘special requirements(customisation)’, a basic configuration of the Nonprofit Cloud could take as little as 4 weeks to put in place. During that time, you would need several online sessions with us to keep either side informed of the progress of the implementation. We will therefore always be contactable daily if you need us. Thereafter, we would need to onboard you with training, which we can do via online or in-person workshops. For the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP), the same timescales apply.
